Chelsea FC striker, Michy Batshuayi have being the subject of several transfer talks. The player who was a bit part player for the Blues last season, have being consistently linked with a move away from the Bridge.
According to Birminghammail, West Bromwich Albion appears to be the front runners in a bid to secure his services even though Chelsea were reported to have offered Batshuayi to newly promoted side Leeds in a bid to raise funds and balance their transfer books
The player will love to remain in England but with Leeds having secured Rodrigo for £27million from Valencia and currently chasing Udinese’s Striker Rodrigo De Paul, Batshuayi will have to do with a move to newly promoted West Bromwich Albion.
Despite playing a very insignificant role for Chelsea this season, Batshuayi have managed to score 12 goals for club and country last season. He score 8 goals for Chelsea and 4 four for the Belgium National Team. Batshuayi was said to be offered to Benfica who are reportedly in the market for a striker after failing to reach agreement with Cavani.
West Bromwich Albion should be a good team to take Batshuayi in considering they will guarantee him starts. Batshuayi started only 1 EPL game last season and scored 1 goal Statistics below shows that Batshuayi had a decent season with the Blues knowing fully well that he had very few starts for the Blues.
Facts
Batshuayi started only 1 EPL game and scored 1 goal and 1 assist.
Started 0 UCL game scored 1 goal
Started 2 FA Cup games scored 1 goal
Started 2 EFL games scored 3 goals and 1 assist
The club has been unfair to him since a strikers aim is to score goals and he does that well.
It will be recalled that the Blues tried everything possible to get rid of Batshuayi, first loaning him to Valencia, then later he was used as part of a domino transfer that saw Aubameyang move to Arsenal and Giroud to Chelsea and Batshuayi to Dortmund. He will however, go on to outscore Giroud that season while with Dortmund.
Now Chelsea have acquired the services of Germany International Timo Werner for almost £58million meaning that Batshuayi has no place in Frank Lampard’s side as Giroud is well placed ahead of the Belgian in the strikers pecking order.
Batshuayi is a big target man who can play as a lone striker up top just like the Blues Ivorian Legend, Didier Drogba. This will make him a perfect fit at West Bromwish Albion whose pattern of play often involves playing long balls towards the target men.
Batshuayi should be expected to benefit from the services of players like Matt Philips who have shown an apt for crossing the ball so well. In the meantime, it’s up to Chelsea FC to determine where Batshuayi a player they signed for £33million from Marseille some years back, plays his next football.
Batshuayi is already in his prime years and he will be 27 by the time the 2nd of October approaches.
Question: Do you think if Batshuayi was given a lot of playing time will he have done better for Chelsea?
