The Nigeria Football Federation have lined up two wonderful friendly games against North African country oppositions in the mold of Tunisia and Algeria for the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Gernot Rohr have since announced his squad for the games scheduled to take place in Austria.
Unfortunately, a few members of the squad now seem to be unavailable for quite a number of reasons. Osimhen for instance was excused from the matches as he looks to settle in well at Napoli.
Wilfred Ndidi picked up a nasty injury and will miss both games after the Leicester City man was said to be out for nothing less than three weeks for both Club and Country. Nigeria have since replaced the strongman with newbie, Frank Onyeka.
Onuachu was announced as a replacement for the excused Osimhen for both matches. Onuachu have being in fine form of late, finding the back of the net in his last two outings. He joins teammate, Cyril Dessers in the Nigeria National Team roster for the friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia.
The latest development is that Oghenekaro Etebo who recently joined Galatasaray on a season long loan from Stoke City is now also unavailable for the fixture too following a knock he picked up when his side faced Kasimpasa on Sunday.
Galatasaray eventually lost the game by 1-0 with the Nigeria International on the pitch for the entire duration of the game.
This report is confirmed by the NFF on their official Tweeter handle. Which read:
🔊 ❗️❗️@NGSuperEagles midfielder @etebo_karo is out of the friendly games against Algeria and Tunisia. He picked up a knock in his club’s game in Turkey yesterday. #SoarSuperEagles #Team9jaStrong
The replacement for Etebo have not being announced but this could present a perfect opportunity for Gernot Rohr to try out another new face in this building project of the Super Eagles as Nigeria aims for the 2022 ticket.
