The best academy in time past, were those that probably produced the set of players that are in the category of the best.

FC Barcelona could categorically be classified as one of such clubs that posses the best academy set up.
La Masia as it is popularly called was responsible for producing talents like Barcelona star Lionel Messi, Gerard Pique, Sergio Bousquet, Xavi Hernandez, Andre Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and a lot more.
Since 2015, Barcelona as a club have not used more than 10 youth teamers in a single season after the departure of former Coach, Pep Guardiola.
The club allowed good players like Thiago Alcantara leave while the likes of Xavi and Iniesta were on the wrong side of age.
The club now believe it could spend it’s way to winning titles. This is evident in the amount shelled out for the likes of Ousmane Dembele (105million euros), Antoine Griezmann (120million euros), Felipe Coutinho (120million euros) e.t.c.
The production abilities of La Masia is never in doubt as Barça posses one of the best set of youth team coaches. The major problem is that the Club hierarchy doesn’t trust the young players and hence, keep on trying to sign players they feel will help the club win the UEFA Champions League.
Barcelona have all the needed players that can help them push forward for an European title. The likes of Ansu Fati, Araujo, Carles Alena and the likes could help the team step up when the opportunity is offered them.
