DONE DEAL: The eagles land a veteran top guard for the replacement of……
The Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl season is over and the 2025 NFL offseason is officially here. We’re continuing our Eagles roster outlook series by examining the offensive guard position.
The Eagles made Dickerson the highest-paid guard in the NFL at the time of him signing his contract extension last March. Despite battling through nagging injuries that seemingly began back in training camp, Dickerson turned in his third straight Pro Bowl season. In the playoffs, Dickerson had to start the NFC Championship Game at center due to Cam Jurgens dealing with an injured back. Dickerson managed to play the entire first half of that game and then the entirety of Super Bowl LIX despite suffering a knee injury that will require offseason surgery. In addition to being a top-notch talent, Dickerson seemed to take on more of a vocal leadership role in 2024.
Dickerson, 26, is signed through the 2028 season. With three Pro Bowls already under his belt, I don’t think it’s crazy to suggest he could eventually overtake Chuck Bednarik’s spot for the most Pro Bowls made in Eagles history (eight). Depending on how long he plays and if he can stay healthy, of course. Even if he doesn’t get to that mark, Dickerson still figures to be one of the NFL’s best guards for years to come.
When the Eagles signed Becton shortly after the 2024 NFL Draft, there was thought that he would be the swing tackle behind Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson. But then Becton took first-team reps at right guard in training camp after Tyler Steen got hurt and never looked back. Though there were some issues in pass protection, Becton was a force as a run blocker due to his massive frame. After spending multiple miserable years with the New York Jets, Becton finally seemed to find happiness in Philly. He was visibly very emotional after the Eagles officially clinched the playoffs (his first career postseason berth) and then again once they won the Super Bowl.
