Breaking: Rams’ Offseason Plans Thrown into Chaos as Pro Bowler Requests Trade
The Los Angeles Rams have been actively involved in several NFL trade rumors ever since their offseason got underway. Though, to this point, most of those discussions have focused on the futures of Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp. That could be changing soon.
Now, another Rams Pro Bowler could be on the verge of being traded out of Los Angeles, but this one is a move many should have seen coming.
Los Angeles Rams grant Jonah Jackson permission to seek trade
Cooper Kupp seems like the strongest bet to be traded by the Los Angeles Rams this offseason. Yet, while Kupp feels like a sure shot to be playing elsewhere, he’s not the only Pro Bowler who has likely played his last snap with the Rams.
According to ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Rams have granted offensive guard Jonah Jackson permission to seek a trade.
It’s notable, because Jackson signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Rams just last offseason. Yet, this move shouldn’t come as a major shock to Rams fans, considering Jackson got benched after making just four starts last season.
Jackson, 28, has a $14.6 million cap hit for 2025 and a $22.6 million cap hit in 2026, which means the Rams likely won’t get much in return for trading the 2021 Pro Bowl guard.
Yet, teams like the Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Minnesota Vikings could show interest thanks to Ben Johnson’s ties to the Lions, where Jackson used to play. Jacksonville and Minnesota could make sense too, thanks to operating similar schemes as Sean McVay, meaning Jackson’s learning curve shouldn’t be as long if he landed in any of the three destinations.
