The Ravens’ Darkest Secret: Legend’s Family Speaks Out on Sex Scandal Rumors
NFL legend Steve Smith Sr. was mostly known for his work on the football field heading into last weekend. Despite his short stature, Smith Sr. developed a reputation for being a major pest for defensive backs on the field through his play and through his talk.
Smith played with an edge that helped him eclipse 1,000 yards and reach five Pro Bowls in his 16 seasons in the league, playing for the Carolina Panthers and the Baltimore Ravens. Three of those years he earned All-Pro status as well.
Since retiring from the NFL after the 2016 season, Smith has joined the NFL Network as an analyst. But over the weekend, a strange accusation emerged seemingly out of nowhere involving Smith on social media.
A man named Tony Martinez accused Smith of having an affair with his wife who was apparently a member of the Ravens’ marching band. The accusations consisted of explicit messages between Martinez and his wife along with conversations between himself and a man believed to be Smith.
Following those shocking revelations, Smith’s son shared a post on Instagram in response to the allegations.
“Your kind words and prayers are felt and appreciated. God’s got us,” he said.
“I won’t take much time feeding into the negativity, but to those sending hateful messages to my family, I hope you take time to reflect that you have nothing better to do with your day than to message hate to a stranger.”
Nothing else has emerged from either side since matters boiled over throughout the weekend. However, the situation undoubtedly presents an awkward circumstance for everyone involved.
While not affiliated with the Ravens any longer, it also makes for another uncomfortable headline amid the ongoing allegations relating to kicker Justin Tucker.
