The Los Angeles Rams made headlines earlier this week with a surprising move in free agency, signing three-time All-Pro receiver Davante Adams. However, they’ve also suffered some significant losses this offseason. From the expected release of 2021 NFL Offensive Player of the Year Cooper Kupp to missing out on key targets—such as former Eagles line backer Josh Sweat—the Rams have taken several hits in recent days.
Another setback came on Monday afternoon when defensive tackle Bobby Brown III departed for the Carolina Panthers. Brown III inked a three-year, $21 million deal with Carolina, potentially reaching $27 million with incentives.
Last season, he posted a career-best 44 total tackles and 6.5 stuffs, providing much-needed support for a struggling Rams defensive line that managed just 38 sacks in 2024—ranking 11th-worst in the league.
Brown III had openly expressed frustration on social media over his role and playing time in Los Angeles. His exit seemed inevitable, especially after the Rams signed nose tackle Poona Ford on Monday. Even so, Ford alone won’t be enough to fix one of the team’s weakest position groups from last season.
Despite finishing 2024 with a 10-7 record and an NFC West title, LA’s shaky defensive front proved costly in the playoffs. In the Divisional Round, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley torched them for 205 rushing yards in a 28-22 loss. If the Rams hope to make another postseason run, reinforcing the defensive line will be a top priority in the coming months.
