Patriots Make a Splash: Land Packers’ Deep Threat Wide Receiver in Blockbuster Trade

After attempting to trade for or sign almost every wide receiver available, the New England Patriots have yet to land a single one. Mack Hollins is the only wide receiver addition made, and the Patriots will likely add another.

In this mock trade scenario, the Patriots call up the Green Bay Packers to trade for one of their wide receivers. The Packers have four wide receivers, and the Patriots call up Green Bay to see if they can poach one of them.

Christian Watson is the wide receiver the Patriots target from the Packers in this mock trade. This mock trade has the Patriots sending a 2025 fifth-round pick, 144th overall, for Watson.

A trade for Watson likely won’t cost a ton for the Patriots, as the Packers receiver has just one year left on his deal.

Recently, the Washington Commanders gave up a similar pick for Deebo Samuel, but Watson is younger and significantly cheaper. Adding Watson would give Drake Maye a deep threat, one that is sorely needed.

The Packers have Jayden ReedRomeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, and Watson on the roster. Trading one of Doubs or Watson makes the most sense for Green Bay, as both are in the last year of their deals.

Watson should cost the Patriots pick 144 and is an immediate difference maker for the Patriots. Maye needs more help as a receiver, and Watson would be the best one he’s played with in the NFL.

New England desperately need a wide receiver, and Watson would be a great fit in New England. The cost would be pick 144 in the 2025 NFL Draft, but it is more than worth it for the Patriots.
