Former Eagle Jason Kelce Reacts to Brandon Graham’s Retirement Speech
It’s easy for fans to forget just how pivotal the Philadelphia Eagles’ draft classes from 2010 to 2013 were in shaping the franchise. Over four consecutive drafts, the team selected Brandon Graham, Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox, and Lane Johnson—each of whom played a crucial role in the Eagles’ success over the past decade.
While Kelce and Graham have now retired just a year apart, the connection they shared as two of the longest-tenured Eagles remains significant.
When Graham officially announced his retirement last week, longtime teammates Cox and Johnson were present to celebrate his career. Although Kelce was unable to attend in person, the former All-Pro and newly minted media personality took time to honor Graham on his New Heights podcast.
Kelce’s Heartfelt Tribute to Graham
“Retired Tuesday, press conference (was) very emotional,” Kelce said. “I’ve been talking to BG for a long time, and he made it clear before the season started that this was going to be his last year. But he was playing so well before his triceps injury that I kept wondering, ‘Is he really going to retire?’ Because he absolutely could have kept playing.”
Kelce went on to highlight Graham’s dedication to the game and the energy he brought to the locker room.
“In my 10 years with the Eagles, I don’t know if anyone gave more to the game as a player and as a teammate. He loved football, he loved his teammates. I don’t think anyone embodied what it means to be a Philadelphia Eagle more than Brandon. His passion for the game, his love for being on the field with his teammates, and the energy he brought every single day—it was special.”
A Legacy Cemented in Eagles History
Graham retires as the longest-tenured player in Eagles history, surpassing Kelce for the most games played in franchise history this past season. Both players spent their entire careers in Philadelphia, never suiting up for another team—a rarity in today’s NFL.
