The Los Angeles Rams appear to be gearing up for a significant trade to move up in the 2025 NFL Draft, with their sights set on Penn State tight end Tyler Warren. Given the team’s past attempts to trade up for a top tight end in the last two drafts—both unsuccessful—their continued pursuit of talent at this position suggests a strong commitment to securing an elite player. The Rams have only managed to draft one tight end in the past two seasons, Davis Allen, yet they remain determined to find a top-tier talent.
According to Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, Warren is attracting considerable interest from multiple NFL teams. He has been invited for private workouts with the New York Jets (7th overall pick), Indianapolis Colts (14th), Los Angeles Chargers (22nd), Los Angeles Rams (26th), Chicago Bears (10th), and New Orleans Saints (9th). Given this level of attention, it’s clear that Warren is seen as one of the premier prospects in this draft class.
The Rams, picking 26th overall, will likely need to move up significantly if they hope to secure Warren. NFL.com grades indicate he is even more talented than previous tight end targets the Rams pursued, including Dalton Kincaid and Brock Bowers. If the team is serious about acquiring him, they must determine how high they need to trade up.
Analyzing multiple mock draft scenarios, Warren is projected to be selected as early as 7th overall by the Jets and no later than 10th overall by the Bears. This means the Rams would need to trade up to at least the 6th pick, which is currently held by the Las Vegas Raiders. According to the NFL Draft value chart, such a move would require the Rams to package their 26th overall pick, a 2026 first-round pick, and both of their third-round selections (90th and 101st overall) to acquire the Raiders’ 6th overall pick along with a fifth-round pick (143rd overall).
This begs the question: Is it too much to give up for a tight end? The Rams have struggled with the position over the past two seasons and might view Warren as the missing piece to elevate their offense. Given General Manager Les Snead’s history of aggressive moves, it wouldn’t be surprising if he pulls off another blockbuster trade to secure Warren.
If Warren can replicate the offensive production of a player like Brock Bowers, then such a trade could be considered a bargain. However, the Rams must also focus on optimizing their offensive scheme to maximize Warren’s potential. They managed to unlock their tight end position’s productivity back in December 2019 and must now find a way to sustain that success over an entire season.
Ultimately, the Rams’ pursuit of Tyler Warren could lead to one of the most significant trades in this year’s draft. Whether they make the move or not will depend on their belief in Warren’s ability to transform their offense.
