Patriots Trade Pitch Sends No. 4 Pick for 3,249-Yard WR for Drake Maye

The New York Jets and the New England Patriots making a trade together doesn’t seem likely. However, there’s always a scenario where the Patriots and Jets understand that both sides could benefit from making a deal.

With the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Jets could view that as a major asset to find their future quarterback. While they signed Justin Fields to a deal this offseason, Fields hasn’t proven to be a franchise quarterback throughout his young career.

If a quarterback falls to four who the Jets love, the Patriots could view that as an opportunity to land a star wide receiver for Drake Maye.

If that’s the case, somebody like Garrett Wilson could make sense.

In a proposed deal from Bleacher Report’s Mitch Milani, the two teams would do just that.

His trade pitch would land the seventh overall pick, along with Wilson. The Patriots would be sending the fourth overall pick and the 69th pick.

“Wilson is one of the most talented receivers in the league. He has eclipsed 1,000 yards every season, despite some shaky quarterback play. He is coming up on a new contract, and the Jets have yet to extend him.

“They may be unwilling to commit to him, making him a trade candidate. They signed Justin Fields, who has not proven he can be an elite passer yet, and Wilson may grow frustrated after another season of poor quarterback play,” Milani said.

This trade could make sense, but the Jets would likely be looking for more. Unless Wilson asks out over the next few weeks before the draft, keeping him is the likely outcome.
