Raiders Predicted to Trade Back Into First Round for Record-Setting WR

The Las Vegas Raiders entered the offseason with a massive upgrade needed at the quarterback position, but general manager John Spytek fixed that problem almost immediately. Now, with Geno Smith under center, many are worried about the lack of pass-catching options that the Raiders have for the veteran signal-caller. Tight end Brock Bowers showed that he was a generational talent during his rookie season, and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers made massive strides en route to his first 1,000-yard receiving season last year.

However, both Tre Tucker and Michael Mayer have been underwhelming through two NFL seasons, and the offense could benefit from more high-end speed on the outside. The Raiders are likely to be out of range for Travis Hunter in the first round, and any other receiver would be considered a reach with the No. 6 pick. However, CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones found a clever way for Las Vegas to land a high-end prospect. He had the team trade back into the first round, striking a deal with the Philadelphia Eagles to land Ohio State receiver Emeka Egbuka.

“Howie Roseman is always willing to make a deal, and he slides back five spots here,” Jones wrote. “The Raiders have to get pass catchers, and they’d be stoked if a pro’s pro like Egbuka is here waiting for them.” Egbuka became the Buckeyes’ all-time receiving yards leader last season, and he won a National Championship under new Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. Not only would he have a head start on the offense, but he would be the perfect fit for Las Vegas and well worth mortgaging another pick for.
