In a headline-grabbing moment that has Oklahoma Sooners fans buzzing, women’s basketball head coach Jennie Baranczyk announced today that star transfer center Raegan Beers has been named team captain for the 2025–26 season — just months after joining the program.
Beers, who transferred to Oklahoma from Oregon State during the offseason, was one of the most sought-after names in the transfer portal. Her decision to come to Norman was already seen as a major win for the Sooners, but today’s announcement has taken fan expectations — and excitement — to a whole new level.
“Raegan has stepped into our program with the kind of leadership and presence you just don’t teach,” Baranczyk said in a surprise media availability. “She’s earned the trust of this team, and she’s the kind of leader we need heading into a pivotal season.”
