In a move that’s sure to delight fans across the league, former Green Bay Packers all-time leading scorer Mason Crosby has officially returned to the team—this time, not as a player, but as a Senior Coaching Consultant for Special Teams.

The announcement was made early Sunday morning by Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst, who described Crosby’s return as “a homecoming for one of the most respected voices in franchise history.”

Crosby, 40, spent 16 seasons with the Packers from 2007 to 2022, earning a reputation as one of the most clutch and consistent kickers in NFL history. His leadership both on and off the field played a pivotal role in the team’s Super Bowl XLV victory and countless playoff runs.

In his new role, Crosby will work closely with the Packers’ special teams unit, offering mentorship to younger players and helping develop strategy and technique for kickers, punters, and long snappers.

“I’m incredibly honored to return to the organization that has meant so much to me and my family,” Crosby said in a statement. “Coaching is a new chapter, but I’ve always been a student of the game—and I can’t wait to give back to the team and community that gave me everything.”

More details, including when Crosby will begin working with the team during OTAs and training camp, are expected later this week.
