The breakout tight end didn’t mince words when asked about the mentality heading into this year — and his response is exactly what the Lions needed to hear. In a recent media session, LaPorta made it clear: the fire hasn’t faded, and the team is locked in.
“We know we’re capable of something special,” LaPorta said. “But that means nothing if we don’t stay humble and do the work every day. That’s the culture Coach Campbell’s built, and we’re not letting that slip.”
With the Lions eyeing a deeper playoff push — and maybe even a Super Bowl run — Campbell’s biggest hurdle isn’t talent. It’s complacency. And having leaders like LaPorta openly embracing the grind is critical.
“Everyone’s hungry,” LaPorta added. “No one’s satisfied. We talk about it all the time — last year wasn’t the end goal. It was just the beginning.”
Campbell couldn’t ask for a stronger message from one of his rising stars. If LaPorta’s mindset spreads through the locker room, the Lions won’t just be contenders — they’ll be dangerous.
