The Baltimore Ravens are entering the 2025 season as a top-two team in the league on paper. While Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry get all of the headlines, Baltimore has a really good defense that’s loaded with stars as well. From Nnamdi Madubuike to Roquan Smith to Kyle Hamilton, Baltimore has elite players at every level of the defense, and the team added Jaire Alexander and Malaki Starks this offseason.
Entering 2025, the Ravens are hoping to build on what was already a top-10 defense. Last season, Baltimore allowed 324.2 yards a game (10th in the NFL) and 21.2 points per game (ninth in the NFL). Now, with improvement always the goal, the Ravens have seemingly identified an area they are committed to improving: forcing turnovers.
On Sunday, veteran corner Marlon Humphrey shared a photo to social media that appeared as if it came from a team meeting. The image contained a chart showing how many takeaways the legendary 2000 Ravens defense had in the entire regular season and playoffs (46). That defense led Baltimore to a Super Bowl, and with that being the goal for the current team, it seems like takeaways will be a point of emphasis after an underwhelming season for the defense in that category.

In 2024, Baltimore recorded just 17 takeaways (12 interceptions and five fumble recoveries), ranking the team 20th in the NFL. The Ravens still had a +6 turnover differential (10th in the league), but that’s because the offense was great at protecting the football. To be an elite defense, Baltimore will need to take the ball away more consistently.
