Leeds United fans saw their January window burst into life last week. After weeks of quietness and almost zero activity, the club quickly sparked into life.
Many were expecting something similar to last year, where the Whites did not make any major deals during that period. This time around, the 49ers have been proactive and have already brought in Facundo Buonanotte from Brighton.

Another target that was on the radar was Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. Leeds reportedly sent a formal enquiry for the Norweigian international as they looked to reinforce the attack. Now, TEAMtalk are reporting that many other clubs are set to join the race. Wolves have gauged the interest in the player and will only be willing to let him go for around £40 million.

Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are also said to be in the race for the former Celta Vigo striker. The asking price has reduced from what Wolves wanted in the summer, which was around £55 million. Club chiefs pointed out that PSR limited spending during the summer window. And even with the arrival of Facundo Buonanotte, it was a loan deal with no clause or obligation to buy. However, if Wolves are expecting the Whites to put £40 million on the table, then the deal will be very unlikely.
The funds to spend in this January window are already limited. This means the 49ers will have to look for other ways to bolster the attack; either look at the loan market once again or find an affordable alternative. Leeds still clearly need someone in their attack who can consistently finish off chances – their game against Fulham showed that the need for an attacking player is quite urgent.
