Penrith have pulled a shock move for tonight’s blockbuster judiciary hearing with coach Ivan Cleary set to represent his son, Nathan, at Rugby League Central as the superstar halfback fights a potential three-match ban.
The Panthers opted against bringing in a high-profile lawyer for Monday night’s hearing where Cleary will look to have his grade two careless high tackle charge downgraded so he’s free to face the Broncos in round one.
Cleary was sent to the sin bin and charged by the match review committee for a high shot on Wests Tigers rookie Heamasi Makasini during Friday night’s trial game at Leichhardt Oval.
