NRL superstar Nathan Cleary has suffered a nightmare at-home disaster.
Just days out from the Penrith Panthers’ NRL season opener against Brisbane, Cleary has more than footy on his mind, after the kitchen in his Sydney home was sensationally destroyed.
In pictures posted to social media, the Panthers halfback broadcast the devastation that hit the heart of his $1.7m home,
Judging by the images, Cleary’s metal rangehood crashed through the ceiling of his newly renovated home on Wednesday, leaving the kitchen in ruins.
Cleary accompanied the posts on Instagram with the good natured question: “Anyone got a magician that can fix my roof … “
And two other posts with a “beauty” and the thumbs up emoji.
Cleary bought the home, which sits next to the Nepean river not far from the Panthers’ training base in Penrith, from his father and coach Ivan in 2013 for $1.175m.
In 2023, the four-time premiership winner and representative playmaker embarked on a “moody” renovation of the home.
The contemporary home sits in a relaxed, leafy setting with both indoor and outdoor entertaining areas, with floor to ceiling windows allowing in plenty of natural light.
Cleary added a putting green while updating the home.
Commentators on social media said the NRL star was lucky to not be around when the ceiling collapsed.
“Geez, could have died if he’d been standing there when it came down,” one person posted
It looks like a hefty repair bill Cleary, just as well he’s the NRL’s highest paid player on around $1.3m a season.
