The Panthers Group has partnered with Australian energy company Nectr to install a solar system at Pullman Sydney Penrith and the Western Sydney Convention Centre, a move the club says supports its sustainability goals while delivering strong commercial returns.
The installation will generate renewable energy for the Penrith precinct and is expected to produce about 236MWh annually.
Panthers Group CEO Andrew Hill said the agreement builds on the existing relationship between the two organisations.
“We value the strong working relationship we’ve built and the ongoing partnership between the two organisations,” Hill said.
“It’s a partnership that delivers positive outcomes for both parties, and we look forward to continuing to work together.”
The solar system will provide 172kW of capacity and is expected to deliver energy savings of around $72,000 per year while offsetting approximately 130 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The Panthers Group said the installation is expected to pay for itself in less than three years.
The project was awarded to Nectr following a competitive tender process.
Hayden Barry said the project demonstrates the financial and environmental benefits of renewable energy for commercial venues.

The partnership between Nectr and the Penrith Panthers extends beyond the new installation. Nectr Solar and Battery previously delivered a solar project at the Panthers Rugby League Academy, which generates around $20,000 in annual energy savings.
