Lazard, 29, has had two lackluster seasons with the Jets, totaling 841 receiving yards in 26 games. Although he did catch six touchdown passes in 2024, his relative lack of production combined with his high salary made him a prime candidate to be cut, so he and the Jets were able to work out an agreement that would keep him around. Although Lazard has not changed the game for the Jets, his return should help quarterback Justin Fields.
Early in the 2025 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots must address their offensive line, and in particular, left tackle. The team’s most obvious roster deficiency is this position, and it is not even close. Drake Maye, the franchise quarterback, needs to be protected.
Thus, the Patriots’ decision to draft Will Campbell with the fourth overall choice in the first round would make sense. The LSU standout is the class’ top-ranked left tackle. If Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter and Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter are not selected at No. 4, Campbell would be a safe choice. However, what about rounds two and three? On Day 2, should the Patriots continue to bolster.
The Grant pick is interesting when you consider how much money the Patriots spent to land Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams in free agency. And they also have Christian Barmore at that position. Kiper says Grant “could be a 331-pound run stopper right next to (Williams). He’s explosive and instinctive.”
