Netflix has officially announced the release of “The UnderDog,” a powerful new sports documentary chronicling the life and legacy of NFL Hall of Famer and New England Patriots legend John Hannah. Slated for release on June 14, 2025, the film dives deep into the story of one of football’s most revered offensive linemen.
Dubbed “The Greatest Offensive Lineman of All Time” by many analysts and former players, Hannah’s journey from humble beginnings in Alabama to anchoring the Patriots’ offensive line in the 1970s and ’80s is portrayed through rare footage, exclusive interviews, and personal reflections from teammates, coaches, and family.
Directed by Emmy Award-winner Rachel Simmons, the documentary explores Hannah’s intense work ethic, his complex relationship with fame, and his lasting influence on the game. NFL fans and sports enthusiasts alike are already calling “The UnderDog” a must-watch for the summer.
“John Hannah redefined what it meant to be a lineman. He was fierce, disciplined, and played with unmatched intensity,” said Simmons. “This film doesn’t just tell the story of a football player—it tells the story of a man who reshaped thengame.”
