Moore has pledged his entire $8.4 million in bonuses to convert a property into a shelter for homeless youth in Chicago. Moore’s vision for the shelter includes 50 private rooms, a communal kitchen, a computer lab, and a counseling center. The property, a former community center, was acquired for $3.2 million, with the remaining $5.2 million allocated for renovations, staffing, and operational costs for the first three years.
Architects and contractors have already begun work, aiming for an opening in late 2026. The shelter will feature energy-efficient designs and a rooftop garden to promote sustainability, reflecting Moore’s desire to create a “home, not just a building.”
