Buller just finished his best season ever, scoring 11 goals in nine games and taking on a big role as a forward when his teammate Joel Amartey was out.
The Swans missed their star player Logan McDonald for the whole 2025 season, which pushed Buller up the lineup after he had played only once in his first 18 months with the team.
Buller was picked up by the Swans in mid-2023 from Claremont and had to wait until his second year to play his first game because injuries held him back at the start.
He played just one game last year but came back to the main team in Round 16 this year against the Western Bulldogs, where he scored his first career goal, though they lost that match.
He kept his spot with coach Dean Cox for the rest of the season, showing that he could be a useful forward and help link plays in attack.
Even though Buller’s contract is up and he wasn’t part of the first cuts made by the Swans, there is some uncertainty about his future, and a rival team is interested. SEN’s Sam Edmund mentioned that Collingwood is looking at Buller.
The report says that the Magpies want to “attract” Buller from Sydney to their AIA center, as they are trying to strengthen their forward lineup.
Collingwood has been working on getting the right mix of tall forwards lately, bringing in Dan McStay and Tim Membrey to their team since Craig McRae became their coach.
Recently, McStay was benched in favor of veteran player Mason Cox, who also doesn’t have a contract for the next year.
Top player Brody Mihocek is in a similar spot, and Edmund shared that the five-time club leading goal kicker won’t decide his future until after the season ends for Collingwood.
Since Buller’s contract is up, he can’t go to free agency and will need to arrange a trade to join Collingwood, unless he is let go.
Collingwood has picks 33, 51, 64, and 69 for this year’s draft, and teams can also trade their 2026 and 2027 picks.
