Who is Chelsea, Arsenal and Westham Target Nahitan Nandez Acosta?

According to CDS via Inside Futbol, Arsenal, Chelsea and West Ham United are showing interest in Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, it has been claimed in Italy.

Who is Nandez?

Nandez is an Uruguayan who plays his club football for Italian out fit Cagliari in the Legea Serie A as a Midfielder.

Nandez was born on the 28th of December, 1995 in Punta del Este, Uruguay. He started his youth football at Penarol in 2014 but by the end of 2014, Nandez was already a member of the Penarol senior squad.

He went on to make 75 appearances scoring 8 goals but he later played in Argentina for Boca Juniors where he managed to score 6 goals in 36 appearances.

He made his last appearance for Boca Juniors on 31 July 2019 against Club Athletico Paranaense in a 2–0 home win. He was substituted by Eduardo Salvio in the 75th minute.

On 9 August 2019, Nández joined Italian club CagliariCalcio on a five-year deal, for a fee of US$20 million.

The 24 year old was part of the Cagliari side that made history by beating Juventus FC for the first time at home in 11 years.

International career

Nández was the captain and a key member of the Uruguayan team at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup played in New Zealand, where he was in the starting eleven for all four of their games.

Nández made his senior international debut on 8 September 2015, in a 1–0 friendly loss away to Costa Rica at the Estadio Nacional ; he replaced Diego Rolan in the 37th minute.

In June 2018 he was named in Uruguay’s 23-man squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He played in all five of their games as they reached the quarter-finals, starting all but one.

Nández was also called up by manager Óscar Tabárez for the 2019 Copa América in Brazil.

Position, Strength and Weakness

He is typically a strong fast and technical midfielder, he can play across all three main positions in Midfield (attacking, central or defensive).

He is a good passer of the ball but his major weakness is goal conversion couple with the fact that he doesn’t win many arial duels due to his 1.71m height.

Chelsea, Arsenal and Westham are all in the Market for a defensive midfielder as Kante, Matteo Guendouzi and Declan Rice have all being linked with moves away from their respective clubs.

According to Goal, Guendouzi was used as part of a €25million bid for Athletico Madrid defensive midfielder Thomas Partey. While Chelsea are said to be willing to off load Ngolo Kante as Lampard looks to sign Declan Rice from Westham.
