The New Orleans Saints are signing former Chicago Bears receiver and return man Velus Jones, according to an ESPN report.
The 27-year-old Jones is a former third round pick out of Tennessee. He never found his footing with Chicago, recording only 300 yards from scrimmage in 27 games with the Bears before the team waived him last October.
Jones spent time with Jacksonville and Carolina last season, appearing in two games with the Panthers.
His biggest impact as an NFL player has come as a kick returner. In his first two seasons, Jones averaged 27.4 yards on his 38 kick
returns, ranking second among players with at least 30 returns in those seasons.
